Why does my excel window lag so much when moved around the screen? no other app windows have the problem

Did this ever get solved for you? I have had the same issues, mostly with Excel. Something that SEEMS to have helped this morning is a display setting change. Time will tell if it's my imagination / temporary or a real fix:

• Right-click on the desktop and select Display Settings.
• Scroll down and click on Graphics settings
• There's now a dialogue that offers the ability to change graphics settings by App.
• In the drop-down box I selected Universal app, then a second drop-down appears, ion which I selected Office and clicked Add.
• Office now appears below as an icon. Click the icon and select Options.
• From the three options of System Default, Power Saving and High Performance, I selected High Performance and clicked Save.
• You may need to exit all Office apps before the new setting takes effect. I simply did a full restart of the PC to make sure of it (1TB SSD = quick restart :-) )

The Excel windows still have a small amount of lag, but not as bad as before.

I would be interesting to know if this helps anybody else.

I accidentally marked this as an answer. And unfortunately, the website design doesn't seem to allow you to remove that flag. This means that if you *think* your problem was solved, then you can't correct it when you discover it failed.

Anyways, it didn't work for me. If anything, it became worse in the 'High Performance' mode.

This one worked for me, except that I didn't use the tip for Universal app, but for classical apps. Simple added the excel.exe file along with the full path and rebooted the system.

Quickest fix that worked for me:

-Go to Windows Performance Options and uncheck the "Show Window Contents While Dragging" box

-Hit "Apply" and drag the excel window around. It will no longer lag.

-Go back to the performance options and select the "Let Windows choose what's best for my computer" (it'll re-check the box that we just unchecked but that's ok)

-Hit Apply

-BOOM. The Excel window now can move around without the lag.

Not sure if this is a bug or what but that's what fixed it for me.

Having this same problem.  Just switched from Office 2010 which didn't have any issue.

Turning off the "Show Window Contents While Dragging" works but since I spend a lot of time dragging documents and merging files etc I need to keep that option turned on.

Is there no other solution?

Glad I'm still just in the trial period for Office 365.  I'd like to get with the times and move on from Office 2010 but this will be a deal breaker for me unfortunately :(

It's such a bummer.

I cancelled my trial and went back to 2010.

I'll try again in the future if this is resolved, but there's no way I can warrant paying a subscription for something that isn't working as well as a licensed copy of 10-year old software.
