Why does my excel window lag so much when moved around the screen? no other app windows have the problem

I also got the same problem, directly after using Logitech Mouse M510. I did not install its software, but it looks the driver or it installs something automatically. When I change the mouse back to the older one, the problem keep showing, i.e. Logitech mouse is disconnected. Will try some solutions suggested here.

Did this ever get solved for you? I have had the same issues, mostly with Excel. Something that SEEMS to have helped this morning is a display setting change. Time will tell if it's my imagination / temporary or a real fix:

• Right-click on the desktop and select Display Settings.
• Scroll down and click on Graphics settings
• There's now a dialogue that offers the ability to change graphics settings by App.
• In the drop-down box I selected Universal app, then a second drop-down appears, ion which I selected Office and clicked Add.
• Office now appears below as an icon. Click the icon and select Options.
• From the three options of System Default, Power Saving and High Performance, I selected High Performance and clicked Save.
• You may need to exit all Office apps before the new setting takes effect. I simply did a full restart of the PC to make sure of it (1TB SSD = quick restart :-) )

The Excel windows still have a small amount of lag, but not as bad as before.

I would be interesting to know if this helps anybody else.

This greatly improved my lag. There is still a small amount, but much better than before. Thanks for the solution!!

Hi Everybody, 

Here is something I adjust on every Windows install I have performed since Windows 7.  I adjust the Windows Display Performance settings as shown below.  Once completed, I don't have lag issues with moving windows around anymore. The window lag issue has been a bug in Windows since Vista. 

Here you go - Make sure to Un-check the options I highlighted below in the image.

I accidentally marked this as an answer. And unfortunately, the website design doesn't seem to allow you to remove that flag. This means that if you *think* your problem was solved, then you can't correct it when you discover it failed.

Anyways, it didn't work for me. If anything, it became worse in the 'High Performance' mode.

The original poster can mark the "answer" and also "unmark" it if need be.

To unmark it click on the elipsis (3 dots icon) at bottom of the original posting, and select the "unmark" option.

If that doesn't work you can just add a reply saying the "answer" did not work and ask a moderator to "unmark" the answer for you.

No, this did not solve the problem.  Excel window still lags.  i9, 1tb SSD, 32GB RAM, 980Ti.
