Why does my excel window lag so much when moved around the screen? no other app windows have the problem

When  I have excel open, even a tiny spreadsheet, and move the window around the screen there is severe lag. The window can keep moving around the screen for a few seconds after I have stopped moving the mouse. I am running windows 10 with all updates installed and Office 365 with all updates installed.

The lag gets worse when connected to an external high res monitor.

This problem does NOT occur with any other application window which can be moved around the screen as fast as I like with no lag.

I am running Surface Pro 3, i5 8Mb Ram with all updates installed.

Wow don't know what's happened but the Excel window lag appears to have been fixed.

I have the Win10 1809 feature update installed, yes I was the stupid one that installed it before MS pulled the update although it's working great for me. I have noticed that there have been changes to Office look and feel, so maybe this has cured the problem. Would be interested to see if it is fixed when other people update to 1809.

Only way I have found to stop this issue is by opening your Windows 'Performance Options' and un-selecting 'Show window contents while dragging'.  It works but now you lose that option.

Do a search for Performance and the option to 'Adjust the Appearance and Performance of Windows' should show up under the control panel. It's kind of hidden but should come up when you search.

I have exactly the same problem, and similar in that no mouse drivers.

I find Excell is the only app that jumps to use 100% of my processing, i'e the cause of the lag.

I don't think it's the mouse, as when I switch to another app, everything acts normally..., until I return back to excel. A cup of tea usual is the best fix.
