Why does my excel window lag so much when moved around the screen? no other app windows have the problem

Maybe it has to do with the mouse and the USB polling frequency.

I had to reduce the polling rate to 250 in order for it to work,but it worked like a charm

I hate to be negative, but Microsoft has no incitive. Many very large organizations have used Microsoft products since the beginning of the company. So invested, they can literally not afford to switch to anything else. No matter how faulty. No matter how poorly implemented. No matter how user unfriendedly. Microsoft needs to continue steeling other companies' software or hire developers that have more experience than college grads. 

On a positive note, our city school system just switched all students from Microsoft laptops to Android.

Sadly I don't think Microsoft has the brain to fix this. They haven't even fixed tabs/sets in explorer in thirty years so..

I have the same issue. Office 2016 (v1904 Build 11601.20178).

I have a gaming mouse with 1000Hz polling rate.

Changing it to 500Hz makes the window less laggy but still not perfect.

250Hz is almost perfect. There still some lags noticable from time to time.

Having a polling rate of 125Hz removes all lags.

It is not a solution to have my polling rate at 125Hz because Office is the only application that is having those window move lags.

It is MS responsibility to fix this.

Did this ever get solved for you? I have had the same issues, mostly with Excel. Something that SEEMS to have helped this morning is a display setting change. Time will tell if it's my imagination / temporary or a real fix:

• Right-click on the desktop and select Display Settings.
• Scroll down and click on Graphics settings
• There's now a dialogue that offers the ability to change graphics settings by App.
• In the drop-down box I selected Universal app, then a second drop-down appears, ion which I selected Office and clicked Add.
• Office now appears below as an icon. Click the icon and select Options.
• From the three options of System Default, Power Saving and High Performance, I selected High Performance and clicked Save.
• You may need to exit all Office apps before the new setting takes effect. I simply did a full restart of the PC to make sure of it (1TB SSD = quick restart :-) )

The Excel windows still have a small amount of lag, but not as bad as before.

I would be interesting to know if this helps anybody else.

I accidentally marked this as an answer. And unfortunately, the website design doesn't seem to allow you to remove that flag. This means that if you *think* your problem was solved, then you can't correct it when you discover it failed.

Anyways, it didn't work for me. If anything, it became worse in the 'High Performance' mode.
