Microsoft Office 2010 on an XP OS

I've been using  Office 2010 on an XP platform for several years and suddenly receive the following:

"The procedure entry point GetDateFormatEx could not be located in the dynamic link library KERNEL32.dll"

Office was loaded on my machine when I received it so I do not have the registration key.

My XP machine is too old to upgrade to a newer OS.

Can anyone give some insight?

How and where do you find the update. I can no longer open any Office programs. I just keep getting the above message(The procedure entry point.......). I put in the original Office CD and selected repair (not install) but it did not correct the problem.

-Open 'Add or Remove programs' from Control Panel

-Check the show updates on the top of window

-Find Office 2010 in the list and find the KB4461522 and KB4462157 updates from its update and remove them.

-Restart the windows.

    Thanks edreded, that’s very helpful as I am not on my XP machines much for a while, so I miss these “attacks”

    I just tried the update you mentioned ,  (KB4462223) ,  on a couple of my XP machines. I get similar results to you: Instillation kills Office 2010 in XP. De installing it and all is well.

    ( I will update the other forum Threads I know about where these “Office 2010 in XP killer updates” issue  has been discussed. )

    KB4461522 is in update history, but not in updates. Many updates have been applied since KB4461522 so it is possible it was replaced by another broken update. So at this point how do I undo the mess and get MSOffice to work?

    I don’t know anything about Update History. I didn’t know there was one. I did not know that it was possible to see an update History. ( I would be interested to know how to see the history, by the way, if you could explain to me how to do that)

    .........There are so far 5 known "killer" updates, which you should try to find and remove:

    Here a summary of the situation as far as I know…

    Office 2010 in XP” killers” :-

    KB4461522 ( no longer available  )

    KB4461614 (  available , but not been offered for some time  )

    KB4462157 ( available , but not been offered for some time. ( Originally this was introduced to solve the problem. It never did. Quite the opposite, it causes the problem if you install it, just as all the other “killers do !!.    ) )

    KB4462174 (  available,  and until recently, was still offered )

    KB4462223 : The latest, available, and being currently offered......

    So if you do not have KB4461522, then all I can suggest is that you look for the other 4

    I hope that is some help. ( I am just someone like you that has had the problem. I found the solution by reading through all the answers in these Threads:
