Word is not saving changes to documents

I use microsoft one and i noticed the changes were not being saved online. So i did a save as version on my desktop and renamed it and it still did not save! I have no idea where to locate the changes I have made these past 24 hours. I look at recent docs and there are zero changes to my document showing for yesterday even though I was editing all day. I have no clue why my documents aren't saving and I need to find the document i lost!

    We have the same problem with a client of ours. Except that they save it directly to  nework share. But the issue that JimSkinner describes is spot on.

    The network share is on a Windows File server with an attached  iscsi connection to NAS (Synology). User spends  ours  working an Excel file  and saved multiple times. Next morning  all changes are gone and the last modified date was 4 day's ago.

    So we made a case with synology to check if it is an Office  Problem or Synology problem.

    I have saved many pieces of work on mircosoft and says its unable to open the document and removes the document. I have lost my assignment I have worked on for weeks for university. This happens a Lot and I am not impressed at all. I think Microsoft is awful and I am not happy at all. I hope you can help me and find my work. Otherwise I will not use this software again.

    This isn't something that should be happening, and it usually doesn't.

    Since you mention university assignments, are you saving to a network location?

    We have the same issue with our long-standing Word Templates with Bookmarks.  All of a sudden when users were saving these Word documents the changes in the bookmarks didnt save.

    Turns out that Microsoft pushed an update to Office 365 ( aka Word 2016 ) Version 1902.

    The previous version 1803 these Word Templates work FINE and save the data passed to the Bookmarks via the Interop.Word document object.

    When you run the same code with version 1902 NOTHING saves thats passed to the bookmark.  Microsoft BROKE existing, working bookmark functionality.

    We had to roll our users back to Version 1803 ( uninstall 1902 and then find the 1803 files and reinstall the older version.  A Band-Aid until someone at Microsoft acknowledges and fixes this issue.
