Hi. I have exactly the same problem.
For examplee, I have a background graphic that has transparency setting 80%. When saving as PDF document, the background looks grey instead of white.

I agree with Danila. This is a severe problem blocking me to use PowerPoint as graphics are not exported properly. PowerPoint is a presentation and visualisation tool and Microsoft is not clearly interested in the quality of graphics at all.
It's two months since I originally reported the problem...
It is pretty obvious that the problem was caused by changes made to Mac OS by Apple.
Please consider bringing this up in Apple Discussions.
It's not solely an Apple issue, the problem occurs only with the Microsoft suite, it occurs in Word as well. When I export to PDF from other programs, it's fine. Are you saying it's up to the consumer to mediate between Apple and Microsoft? As noted by Ray in many posts above, the issue is on both sides.
