Why, why was OneNote released without an option to turn autocorrect off?! This problem is now old enough, how was this not fixed? You essentially made OneNote completely useless, since it auto-"corrects" everything you want to type into something wrong. Why was this option removed from the new Versions of OneNote? How does it come that its not fixed by now?

As noted, you have the "new & (dis-)improved" OneNote UWP.
The "Options" control has been moved from the removed File menu item.
On the right side of the ribbon, click on the (unnamed/elipsis) 3 dots icon > click on Settings > click on Options > scroll down. That being said, the only autocorrect option is for capitalization. Sorry.
You have 2 options:
- submit a feedback to MS complaining about this missing feature
- install OneNote 2016 again. (yes that is a real option)

While this is still an issue, I have found that you can hit [Ctrl+Z] right after the auto-correction occurs to revert back to the original text entry. It requires you to hit [Ctrl+Z] immediately after you type the text, and then again after you hit the Space Bar.
Still highly annoying and a huge frustration if you are typing extensive notes with text groups that are constantly being converted to a symbol.
An example: (c) is automatically converted to the copyright symbol ©. The conversion occurs immediately after the closing parenthesis is typed following the c. At this point, you will hit [Ctrl+Z] to change the symbol back to the text code (c). However, because OneNote is truly helpful and really likes symbols, the (c) will convert back to the copyright symbol when you hit the Space Bar. At this point, you will again hit [Ctrl+Z] to undo the conversion and change the symbol back to (c).
Note: This is the fastest way to change the symbol back to text code. Hitting the space bar before the first [Ctrl+Z] will not allow you to skip a step and convert the symbol back to text code. It will just back your cursor up by one space leaving the symbol. You'd then have to follow the steps in the example above.
This is STILL not resolved, nor has there been any response whatsoever. The level of neglect is laughably hilarious at this point.
Your response has not addressed the issue I have. I have added words directly to the MS dictionaries inside AppData, but OneNote is still autocorrecting them.
An instructive response would be appreciated.
