User fonts not working in Word for iPad after iOS 11

I have been using Microsoft Word for iPad to write and edit documents for a while now and it has been working well. I have some custom fonts installed on my iPad, and those have been working great with Word as well. Until iOS 11. After I updated my iPad to iOS 11, I got an error message every time I opened a file that relied on my user-installed fonts: “There is insufficient memory or disk space. Word cannot display the requested font.”. And the file closes and/or stays open but doesn’t display my fonts. Is this a known issue? Anyone experiencing this?  I’m hopeful that this will be addressed in the first post iOS 11 update for Word, but I haven’t seen anything about it online.

    Thanks for sharing your experience with us.

    Based on your description, this issue seems occurred after you upgrade from iOS 10 to iOS 11. If yes, please make sure Microsoft Wordon your iPad is the latest version.

    If the issue persists and your custom font still doesn't work, I suggest you go to the font provider to check whether it works on iOS 11.

    Thanks. I am using the most current version of Word.

    What you say about the "font provider" doesn't make sense. The font works fine in iOS 11; I'm currently using it in a number of other apps that are running fine on iOS 11.  And more generally, fonts are never OS-specific—these are just ordinary TrueType font files that works across different operating systems (the fonts I'm using are made by Adobe).  This is clearly some kind of bug in how Word is interacting with iOS 11, and it needs to be addressed in an update from Microsoft.

    Microsoft Word for iOS was updated on September 11, 2017 and iOS 11 public was released on September 19, 2017, so this font issue may related to the capability between iOS and the third party font with all respect. I do believe this issue should be fixed and I suggest you submit your feedback at Word UserVoice to let related team hear your voice.

    I’m having the exact same issue. Custom fonts cause Word for iPad to display an insuffucient memory error after updating to iOS 11. They work fine in other apps.
