    Hi.

    This solution worked for me.

Microsoft Word attempts to open _vti_rpc upon exiting

    1. File>Account>under User Information, sign out all the existing account and exit all Office apps.
    2. Control Panel>User Accounts>credential manager>Windows Credentials, remove all Office 365 credentials that look like: MicrosoftOfficeXXData:XXXXXXXXX
    3. Remove also the "OneDrive Cached" credential.
    4. Restart your PC.
    5. Open Word and sign in again with your Office 365 account.
    6. Open your documents then close to see the result.

I just did that. Get Updates gives no result. Update is probably not available for everybody (every language).

    I'll wait a little longer...

I just got a Windows Store update for Office Online.  I applied, I then went to Word and it had something to update, I did that.  Then I opened a docx, modified it, and closed Word with no pop-up.  I wonder if it is fixed.

    Procedure:

    1. Run Windows Store, select downloads and updates, click Get Updates.  I got an update for Office Online (9/13 at 15:10 time).  Let it install.
    2. Open Word (for example), open a blank doc, select File, Account, Update.
    3. Test for your pop-up.  With a quick test, I did not get it.

I just upgraded to the new Monthly Channel build:

    Version 1708 (Build 8431.2070 Click-to-Run)

In this build Autosave has been greyed out and set to off, so the issue no longer occurs. So while I don't get the pop up anymore, the autosave functionality has been removed from the current build. So there is some progress!

In my case with this build yes, the Autosave has gone (I hope it comes back soon), but the popup still appears.
