Same issue with me since August update; I'm fairly certain this must be linked to OneDrive. To test, I've moved my files from OneDrive to local storage, opened them from local storage, and pop-up hasn't triggered again since.

It originally popped up for me when trying to save to OneDrive Personal folder.

Edited to add: It only happened on Word for me. Have had an Excel worksheet and Powerpoint opened from OneDrive simultaneously and have no issues with saving to OneDrive with those programmes.

I, personally, have only had the problem with Word - nothing else.  However, unlike some/most others, I am using Office 2016 not Office 365.  I am not sure if it matters.

I also want patches to Office so I have decided to continue with the problem version and wait for a patch.  Note that for me, when I get the pop-up, I can just click "X" in the upper right corner and the pop-up will go away and the file will be saved normally.  You can check the date on the file on OneDrive to verify.

I do not have a problem with OneDrive.  My guess is that exiting would work.

Aside:  If you hover your mouse over the link in the pop-up (_vti_rpc) you will see that it points to an executable in OneDrive.  I don't know what it is supposed to do but it is a problem.

This did not work for me.

I went into settings, searched for Web Credentials and found both Web and Windows.  There are no entries for Office or OneNote even though I have both.  I expanded the numeric credentials in both panes and they were for skype and messaging.

I also looked in control panel and got the same thing, of course.

    It could be me...
