stdole32.tlb in Excel Windows 10

Everytime I run Excel 2007 in windows 10, the stdole32.tlb box comes up and it has to reconfigure itself.  How do I stop this?

The fix to this problem is simply uninstall KB2767916, restart your computer and then run updates again. That's all.

  Hi Jeff,

           That sounds a very simple fix to the small problem. A question though, how does one - "non computer buff" - search for update KB2767916? When I try to type on cortana search bar I cant - another small problem!

Go to CONTROL PANEL (windows key + r, then type control and press enter).

Click on PROGRAMS and FEATURES.

On left side of screen click on VIEW INSTALLED UPDATES.

Look for the update - "Update for Microsoft Office 2007 suites (KB2767916) 32-bit Edition."

Uninstall it then restart your computer and run windows updates again.

    I just removed all Quality Updates dated 12/19/2017 for anything having to do with Office 2007. As soon as I finished I started Excel and no obnoxious stdole32.tlb pop-up! Immediately ran updates and reinstalled the Office updates that came up and ran Excel again and no obnoxious pop-up. Restarted computer and still no pop-up. Worked on two computers already.

    I did a recovery to the Windows 10 version prior to the Creators update on December 19. The stdole32.tlb window did not open when I accessed Excel nor did the system try to reconfigure Office 2007 after I recovered back to the earlier version of Windows 10.

    If windows updates itself with the version I just skipped I wonder if the problems will return?

    Did you just remove the Office 2007 updates and reinstall them? Were they security updates to Office 2007?

    For what it's worth, I just started having this issue after the recent Win 10 feature update. I had been using Office 07 for years without issue. Suddenly after the update, started seeing the reconfig problem across all of the office suite (solved with the renaming suggestion), but thus far nothing I've tried (including registry fixes) has solved the stdole32 error for Excel.

      That is my problem also.! I have solved the configuration problem with Word and in Excell just now thanks to Stefan Blom and YouTube but the stdole32 error persists. I do not feel confident enough to uninstall any large programs ans the error ( as long as it does not escalate) is not that annoying. But if as said it is an MS problem surely someone there should be able to point us to a simple answer!!

    I removed all "Quality Updates" pertaining to Microsoft Office 2007 that were dated 12/19/2017. There were three that could not be removed so I left them. As soon as I restarted the computer updates began to download. After the downloads had installed the reconfiguration problem and the annoying pop-up both disappeared. I'm guessing that MS fixed the issue with a newer update. If that is the case then if you run your updates I'm thinking the problem will not reappear. No guarantees though.
