stdole32.tlb in Excel Windows 10

Everytime I run Excel 2007 in windows 10, the stdole32.tlb box comes up and it has to reconfigure itself.  How do I stop this?

The fix to this problem is simply uninstall KB2767916, restart your computer and then run updates again. That's all.

  Hi Jeff,

           That sounds a very simple fix to the small problem. A question though, how does one - "non computer buff" - search for update KB2767916? When I try to type on cortana search bar I cant - another small problem!

Go to CONTROL PANEL (windows key + r, then type control and press enter).

Click on PROGRAMS and FEATURES.

On left side of screen click on VIEW INSTALLED UPDATES.

Look for the update - "Update for Microsoft Office 2007 suites (KB2767916) 32-bit Edition."

Uninstall it then restart your computer and run windows updates again.

    The tip in the video Tim Custis referenced eliminated the configuring problem I and MMSusieQ had. Like MMSusieQ I still have the annoying stdole32.tlb error come up in Excel.

    Also, if you run Microsoft Office Diagnostics, it not only does not solve the stdole32.tlb error in excel (it does not catch it), it re-adds the setup.exe file, thereby creating the configuring problem all over again.

    proposed going to the uninstall programs menu, select Microsoft Office 2007, then select Change (the only other option besides Uninstall). But when I tried clicking Change I don't see what he posts; rather, it brings up An error occurred while trying to uninstall [it]. It may have already been uninstalled. Would you like to remove [it] from the Programs and Features List?"n

    Am running fully up to date Windows 10 Pro on a Surface Pro 4.

    Isn't there a way to download the missing stdole32.tlb file an put it where it belongs?

    This worked for me Excel https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i1Fm45Z306I  Program Files (x86)\Common Files\microsoft shared\OFFICE12\Office Setup Controller\SETUP and renamed to SETUPold

    I was able to fix the reconfiguration problem in Word, but not in Excel. And, yes the stdole.32.tlb still comes up before it starts reconfiguring.  What did you do to resolve the recon problem?
