Cursor becomes smaller in Office apps.

I have the same issue on a brand new Dell XPS.  What's interesting to me is that I only see the issue on hyperlinks within Office apps like Word and Outlook. Everywhere else the cursor behaves normally.

    My problem is primarily in Outlook because I use Outlook more than Word or Excel or Access.  The problem occurs in Office, not just one of the apps in Office.  

    Word?  Okay, I'll show you Word.  But please keep in mind the scope is bigger than Word.

    That certainly looks peculiar. To be precise, it isn't the (blinking) cursor/insertion point but rather the mouse pointer that is unusually tiny in your screen shot.

    Have you tried updating the video driver and/or changing the options for pointers in Mouse properties?

    Thank you for responding.

    If I understand your question, it is never the insertion point itself, but only the mouse cursor.  And.... it depends on what mouse cursor.  In the three photos above, when I move the cursor down onto the Word page it changes to the insertion placement cursor. (Normal size.)  I then move the cursor up one half of an inch and it become the arrow cursor, but very small.  Moving up a bit more to get the margin cursor, it too is very tiny.  Very, very, very strange.  (And annoying.)  The hand cursor is also tiny when hovering over links in Outlook and Word.

    I have the current, stable video drivers installed.  I have also completely deleted all traces of the driver software on two occasions and done a fresh install.  The cursors were normal immediately after install, but had reverted to the tiny cursor when I started the system the next morning.  In fact, changing the scaling of the screen will sometimes "fix" the problem until the next day.

    Oddly, changing the options for pointers (for example, larger cursor size) gives me huge cursors most places, and the same tiny cursors where I've been experiencing them.

    Note:  In the original post this thread split from, GarrettBoone claimed he had finally fixed the problem by "forcing" a different mouse driver for his laptop's touchpad.  I have tried different mice, but they all immediately use the basic Microsoft mouse driver...  (Currently showing 10.0.15063.0)
