Onenote: images are replaced with a red X

Hello,

As you can read in the title: some of the images in my onenote sections are gone. 

I tried:

  • deleting the cache folder: didn't work
  • updating: didn't work
  • making a new noteblock and copying/replacing my notes to the new noteblock: didn't work
  • opening the notebook online: didn't work, also doesn't show the images

I have an exam coming up and I really can't have this problem right now. Please help.

    This problem has just happened to me.

    No problems before.

    My work round is to copy the webpage clipping temporarily into Word.

    That the Word page displays all text and images proves that it is not the browser or webpage that is the cause.

    Copy the page that is in Word into OneNote.

    This works - all text and images are shown as they are in the Word page..

    It does not seem to be anything to do with the browser or website.

    Possibly a MS update has changed OneNote by error.

    Just some quick notes on your comments:

    1.  I can't speak for how recent this particular issue may be occurring for any one person but there are similar (red x) complaints dating back quite a few years.  I myself have noted it for several years using mulitple PCs and browsers.  

    2.  I am using Chrome (latest version) and the latest version of the OneNote web clipper but the problem persists so it doesn't appear that any recent update has solved the issue.  Perhaps Peter will provide a link to the thread he mentioned so that we can get particulars about the update.

    Just to test things out I clipped the following page and the "red x" problem still occurs:

    It would be helpful if you would clip the article (using the "Article" option) and provide an update as to whether you still encounter the "red x" issue.  If you do so, please note which browser you are using.

    Hi all! I posted a question about the Web Clipper app not working in another thread. If that's what you're writing about, a fix was just released that should now improve images that appear when using the "article" clipping feature. Good luck!

    Just download the latest version of your browser . Found that Safari old version would not support that but Chrome. Keep in mind Evernote web app won't support pasting at all.

    Hello everyone, 

    I have the exact same issue. 

    Having read the entire thread, it's unbelievable that MS didn't fix this yet. 

    Just to add that it has to be something new (either from MS or website tech) because clippings from the same websites in the past worked well, whereas now pics don't appear. 

    What a shame to have such a brilliant tool and not being able to use it fully.
