"The file 'name of file' may have been changed by another user since you last saved it. In that case, what do you want to do? Save a copy. Overwrite changes."

I've been using Excel 2016/Office 365 and just recently, I started getting this message: "The file 'name of file' may have been changed by another user since you last saved it. In that case, what do you want to do? Save a copy. Overwrite changes."

I'm the only one working in my file. It is stored on the OneDrive for Business, which is the company supported.

How do I keep this message from appearing?  Or WHY is this message appearing?

I saw a similar post for Excel 2013, but no help was actually given.

Thank you for the respond, I have setup a "First release for Deffered" installation files with a "Deffered" upgrade channel so when MS issued the fixed on this version we can push the upgrade, I will test it with a couple of users that are having this issue and let you if i fixes it.

    regards,

    Daniel.

    Hi DGreenBASD,

This thread is under Office 365 for Business category and mainly focuses on C2R based edition of Office 2016.

For MSI based edition of Office 2016, you can raise a new thread at Office 2016 category for proper handling. Our engineers will further assist you. Thanks for your understanding.

Note: You can install the update package here.

    Thanks,

    Jim

I am investigating this problem now. It seems that my affected user is beyond the versions mentioned here. He is also running 64 bit office. Would this issue not be addressed in 64bit?

    Hi Mike,

Please firstly refer to my marked reply (page 11).

In the meantime, could you share the Office version and channel of this affected user? You can click File > Accounts and attach a screenshot.

    Thanks,

    Jim
