"The file 'name of file' may have been changed by another user since you last saved it. In that case, what do you want to do? Save a copy. Overwrite changes."

I've been using Excel 2016/Office 365 and just recently, I started getting this message: "The file 'name of file' may have been changed by another user since you last saved it. In that case, what do you want to do? Save a copy. Overwrite changes."

I'm the only one working in my file. It is stored on the OneDrive for Business, which is the company supported.

How do I keep this message from appearing?  Or WHY is this message appearing?

I saw a similar post for Excel 2013, but no help was actually given.

    Hi Qing,

I had indeed tried Tisky's suggestion and it didn't work.

I had also tried to upload the screenshot the way you recommend and that didn't work either.

    Thanks,

    Pascale

    Hi Pascale,

    Thanks for the update.

In that case, can you provide us with the information below:

    1. Would you please provide the steps of how you encounter the problem? We would like some detailed steps on this. For example, where is the location of the file? How did  you open the file? Does it happen to all files? This would help us narrow down the issue.
    2. A screenshot of the error message.
    3. A screenshot of your Excel version under File > Account.

    Regards,

    Sheen
