I've been using Excel 2016/Office 365 and just recently, I started getting this message: "The file 'name of file' may have been changed by another user since you last saved it. In that case, what do you want to do? Save a copy. Overwrite changes."

I'm the only one working in my file. It is stored on the OneDrive for Business, which is the company supported.

How do I keep this message from appearing?  Or WHY is this message appearing?  

I saw a similar post for Excel 2013, but no help was actually given.

We've contacted the related team and would like to share the latest updates here:

For Consumer products (e.g. Home,Personal,University), the issue should has been fixed in Office version 8229.2103.

For Enterprise products (e.g. Business Premium, Enterprise), the issue will be fixed very soon in few days, the expected Office version number is 8201.2140.

    Has this been resolved.  I recently had this pop up on a handful of users recently as well.  Is this a OneDrive issue or Excel?

    Is not yet resolved as far as I can tell.

    I do tech support for an organisation with approx 200 staff, and have seen this issue on 4 machines/accounts so far, my own included.  Appears to be very random, though only with Excel spreadsheets, not Word or PowerPoint.

    I am running Win10 Enterprise 1703 Build 15063.483.

    OneDrive client Version 2016 Build 17.3.6944.0627

    Office 365 ProPlus 16.0.7766.2092

    Noticed my Office was below recommended (And windows update wasn't finding anything new), so I did a full uninstall and reinstall from portal.office.com.

    Am now on Office 365 ProPlus 16.0.8326.2052, but issue is still occuring, but now with a different error message when saving in Excel.  "Document not saved".

    I am going to try turning off my OneDrive personal and Sharepoint Sync's.

    Yes I noticed it is only excel.  This problem is very frustrating.  The versions of one drive referenced is not slated to be released until August 21st.  Users are growing frustrated.  Let me know if turning off sync and reenabling works.
