"The file 'name of file' may have been changed by another user since you last saved it. In that case, what do you want to do? Save a copy. Overwrite changes."

I've been using Excel 2016/Office 365 and just recently, I started getting this message: "The file 'name of file' may have been changed by another user since you last saved it. In that case, what do you want to do? Save a copy. Overwrite changes."

I'm the only one working in my file. It is stored on the OneDrive for Business, which is the company supported.

How do I keep this message from appearing?  Or WHY is this message appearing?

I saw a similar post for Excel 2013, but no help was actually given.

For Enterprise products (e.g. Business Premium, Enterprise), the issue will be fixed very soon in few days, the expected Office version number is 8201.2140.

Thanks,

    Hi,

As per my update, the problem re-occurs again and there are no more pending files. A restart of the computer didn't help.

Thanks Microsoft for interest on following this problem.

    Cheers,

     Miguel Anjo

    Hey,

I'm also experiencing this issue since our last update to FRDC. (I have a handful of users experiencing it as well). It occurs on certain Excel files saved to my OneDrive. Not sure why it is some and not all, but I can repeat it. Open the known file, make any changes and hit save (disk icon upper left corner). It won't prompt (but this puts it in the cache). Make more changes and click save again. This second save will generate the dialog below immediately when clicking save (ie - there isn't a delay/timeout).

Have watched procmon, disabled AV, can't seem to see anything. Will try the QFE change next but obviously that's a workaround not a long term fix.

let me know what is found, thanks!

    Hi Ran,

I checked and didn't have any pending uploads.

Not sure what Miguel means with forcing a full restart of the computer?

I shut down my laptop every evening (start menu, power button, shut down) and start it again in the morning.

    Still have the same problem...

    Regards,

    Pascale

Ran- Looks like Miguel updated his post saying that did not resolve the problem.
