Cursor disappears (only) over the italic texts (on PC)

The problem occurs under any front and any zoom I am using. 

I just updated Office 365 to the latest version (1701) before posting this question and the problem still remains

    Hi Stefan...

    Thank you for all your input on this so far. I have the same issue, and it's driving me nuts. I'm using a Surface Book, lowest spec on the market, fully updated Windows 10 and Office 365. I haven't installed any alternative drivers or messed with settings or hardware in any way.

    I see that you said it's a driver issue related to the 520 graphics adapter, which is consistent with the Surface Book I'm on having one of those. My question is: can I do anything about that? I used the Device Manager to search for drivers, but it tells me I already have the most up-to-date drivers. You can probably already tell that my abilities fall a little short of searching out alternative drivers and installing them.

    Any help would be appreciated.

    In my case the problem seems to have been fixed in the last few days. This a Lenovo with intel 520 graphics and Word 2016.

    The problem came back again. Probably some new updates screwed it up again.

    I just noticed it came back to my laptop (never left my desktop).  I have no idea how to diagnose the issue...

    Are there any beta/experimental drivers that have fixed this issue? I tried installing the latest release device drivers on the i7 Surface Book of a user that's experiencing this problem and it unfortunately didn't fix the issue. She has the latest version of 2016 through Office 365 as well. It's driving her crazy. She has the built in Intel HD Graphics 520 too.
