Cursor disappears (only) over the italic texts (on PC)

I'm absolutely amazed this problem still persists. I'm using a Microsoft surface with up-to-date OS/ drivers and 365 up-to-date Word.

How do bugs like this persist with Microsoft hardware running a Microsoft software program on a Microsoft OS? For the costs involved this it totally unacceptable.

Oh and Microsoft - maybe have a crack at the million display scaling problems too. Sticking a great display into a Surface Pro/ Book is pointless if it doesn't play nice with external displays, which are still essentially mandatory for real business use and still typically 1920 x 180 (i.e. lower resolution than the native resolution of the Surface).

I've had the same issue on my Dell Latitude notepad (Intel HD Graphics 620). It's definitely connected to the display scaling.

I had scaling set to 125%. I changed to 150% (recommended value), signed out and in again, changed back to 125%, signed out and in again, and the cursor is visible again over italic text in Word. I suspect the problem will recur, so this is only a workaround and not a fix.

I also have the same issue with the cursor disappearing over italicized text in Microsoft Office. Closing all office programs down and reopening temporarily fixes the issue for me, but it eventually reappears. The scaling issue above also temporarily fixed the issue, however I don't recognize it as a valid fix, as I'd prefer not to mess with my desktop scaling every time the problem arises. This should be fixed by Microsoft as it is only apparent in Microsoft's product.

After some toiling, I was able to resolve this issue on an user's Surface Book with Win 10. 

I had to alter the scale and layout settings. I found that setting it to a "Custom scaling" above 100% allowed the full cursor to be visible (in my case I set it to 125%).

Experiences may differ. I ramped up the scale to 350% initially and was able to get the cursor back. I stepped it down incrementally until it disappeared again (going from 125 to 100).

I too have the same issue and I'm using an i7 Surface pro laptop with "Intel Iris Plus Graphics 640".

I use a lot of italics in documents and this bug is super frustrating! A solution would be most appreciated.
