Cursor disappears (only) over the italic texts (on PC)

The problem occurs under any front and any zoom I am using. 

I just updated Office 365 to the latest version (1701) before posting this question and the problem still remains

    I'm having the exact same issue.  Mouse cursor disappears when mousing over italic text.  All fonts, all zooms.  Happening on both my windows machines, each with build 1708.  None of what you have suggested above changes the problem.

    Try performing a clean boot to eliminate any software conflicts that might have occurred after installing an update. Click on this link for more information on how to perform a clean boot on Windows 10.  

    Note: Refer to How to reset the computer to start normally after clean boot troubleshooting section to know more information on how to start your computer in normal mode after the clean boot process.
