Cursor disappears (only) over the italic texts (on PC)

I also have the same issue with the cursor disappearing over italicized text in Microsoft Office. Closing all office programs down and reopening temporarily fixes the issue for me, but it eventually reappears. The scaling issue above also temporarily fixed the issue, however I don't recognize it as a valid fix, as I'd prefer not to mess with my desktop scaling every time the problem arises. This should be fixed by Microsoft as it is only apparent in Microsoft's product.

I'm going to ask a question to the Office team and (hopefully) find out if they have more information on this issue. I'll post back with any information that I receive.

I certainly haven't solved it. I just grit my teeth and repeat the litany against fear every time I have to highlight anything which is in italics. I haven't seen any response from Microsoft, and I'm not aware of anyone who has.

If anyone has a solution to this, or even a workaround, I would love to hear it!

One more data point, I tried a Surface book which has both HD 520 and dGPU. The problem exists only when intel HD 520 is used. When I force the system to use nvdiai GPU (after reboot), the cursor works fine in Word 2016. In fact the mouse pointer (arrow) looks totally

different in Word (outside the italic region) between 520 and dGPU.
