MS Office Jumping Shaking jogging while scrolling or changing panes on external monitor

Hi All, 

Im running W10 with 365 office pro 

lenovo X1 Carbon notebook

when editing word documents on an external monitor, the document tends to jump around horizontally while scrolling or editing 

its a very quick, momentary motion, but enough that it is quite nauseating to look at for extended periods of time. 

interesting thing is,  i only see this behaviour while the document is on the external monitor, not when it is on the laptop monitor 

is it some interaction between word and the video driver? 

i only see this on MS word

there is a potentially related phenomena with excel where the excel pane flickers / freezes until the monitor is unplugged or excel rebooted that occurs when dragging a pane between monitors. 

any thoughts would be

    Hi All!

    At my customers, we have the same issue where we use external displays. Only in case of "extended display" on the external monitor. All Windows and computer driver up to date. OffCAT did not find any issue. We did not seen, or experience this display error approx 2-3 months ago. These issue reports has been around since 2 or 3 months too, without any usefull solution. What is the point of view of Microsoft?

    MS.Windows 10 x64

    MS.Office 365 Business

    Lenovo T series notebooks

    Hello Gabor,

    We'd like to know if you've already tried the suggestions that were posted by other community members in this thread such as opening Office apps in safe mode and updating the display driver. Let us know the troubleshooting steps that you've tried.

    Had the same issue where my word document would shake when I was on an external monitor through a laptop expansion dock (HP Thunderbolt), after searching around and finding this fix for turning off animated controls the problem is fixed.

    Control panel > System and security > System > Advanced system settings (in upper-left side) > Advanced tab > Settings in Performance box > Visual effects:

    Here please disable Animate controls and elements inside windows

    I'm having the same problem on an external monitor, but only as of the last week. I was running the same setup for months without an issue prior to this. 

    Will try the aforementioned fixes.

    I am seeing the same 'shimmy' in Word 2016, which I downloaded yesterday as part of a 30-day Office 365 trial.  I am a contractor, doing this for a client company to determine if their docs can be used with Office 365.

    It only occurs in Page Layout view. I am not seeing any strange behavior in Outline or Draft view. 

    I don't have the bandwidth to diagnose this problem. I just want to report that it's happening on my LT screen. So, it is not just an issue with remote screens. FYI, my LT is a Dell Precision running Windows 10. Fresh install as of Feb 2017. I also have Office 2013 installed as my main toolset.
