MS Office Jumping Shaking jogging while scrolling or changing panes on external monitor

Hi All, 

Im running W10 with 365 office pro 

lenovo X1 Carbon notebook

when editing word documents on an external monitor, the document tends to jump around horizontally while scrolling or editing 

its a very quick, momentary motion, but enough that it is quite nauseating to look at for extended periods of time. 

interesting thing is,  i only see this behaviour while the document is on the external monitor, not when it is on the laptop monitor 

is it some interaction between word and the video driver? 

i only see this on MS word

there is a potentially related phenomena with excel where the excel pane flickers / freezes until the monitor is unplugged or excel rebooted that occurs when dragging a pane between monitors. 

any thoughts would be

    I have the same issue with new Surface Pro (i7 - 7660U @ 2.5GHz 16.0GB RAM, x64) running Windows 10 Prof and Office 365. My external monitor is an Insignia, but I have a newer and larger Vizio monitor at work and the same thing happens. I ran the OffCAT tool and it only told me that I needed to update my Office programs (news to me, as I had received no notice that updates were available). I updated and rebooted, but the problem persists. It makes working on an external monitor impossible.  It is also associated with spontaneous and absurd resizing of the window (the whole window, including text on the Word tool bars), which is also extremely annoying.  I've used this monitor with my Windows 7 Dell laptop for years with zero problems.  It's quite amazing to switch to Windows hardware running Windows software and find myself fighting one ridiculous bug after the next! This is just the latest. I always excused these kinds of things as being caused by poor integration between hardware and software from different companies. But apparently, it's just Microsoft.

    Hi,

    I have the same issue with MS Word scrolling jogging horizontally on the external screens. It's driving me crazy. I am using a new MS Surface pro using external screens. It's fine on the surface but not on the external screens. I have tried with Acer, LG and Phillips screens - all are the same.

    I have no outstanding updates for Office - I'm all up to date.

    I have run the OffCAT and have a report that I have no idea what to do with. I have two things that have come up - "Cached Credentials" and "Profile Type - Local". Not sure I should be posting the Item Description details in an open forum?? It has email addresses and extra detail in there...

    Please hep.

    I have the same problem.  It occurs on a Lenovo X1 Carbon Gen 4 both when (A) running two monitors off a Lenovo docking station and (B) running two monitors natively, one off the X1 HDMI port and one off the X1 MiniDisplayPort.    With the docking station one monitor is always stable and the other "jiggles" annoyingly WORD.   With the two video cables off the laptop, both monitors may show "jiggly" annoying WORD.    

    In all cases Word jumps left and right a half inch erratically.  Running Win10 and no outstanding updates available to any drivers or OFFICE or WINDOWS.  The BIOS has been updated several times by Lenovo software.

    I have the same issue and I downloaded and ran OffCAT and it had absolutely nothing to say about or resolve the issue. Come on Microsoft, this is a pretty ridiculous bug for you not to have addressed it by now with so many users experiencing the same issue!

    I have the same issue. I have 2 external monitors hooked up to my laptop and Word makes the document jump every time I scroll. Excel is worse, the whole thing tries to resize multiple times until it crashes. I have to use the display of the laptop for these to work.
