MS Office Jumping Shaking jogging while scrolling or changing panes on external monitor

I too had this issue with a laptop and external monitor - both Dell, but I also had it using an AOC monitor. Display OK if using the additional monitor to duplicate the laptop screen, but not if extending it, which as has already been said, rather defeats the point. Also had issues with Excel screen corruption and crashing as mentioned by others.

Running in safe mode I found no Add-ins enabled, but after going back to normal mode it seemed to have sorted itself... but only for a while. Trying various alternative screen refresh rates also gave no remedy.

Setting the text size to 125% does work for me however. Still not a perfect solution as menu bars are chunkier and take up more precious screen area, but better than the "duplicate" option, or the pages jiggling around in that nausea-inducing way, which also makes doing any precise placing with the mouse impossible.

Had the same issue where my word document would shake when I was on an external monitor through a laptop expansion dock (HP Thunderbolt), after searching around and finding this fix for turning off animated controls the problem is fixed.

Control panel > System and security > System > Advanced system settings (in upper-left side) > Advanced tab > Settings in Performance box > Visual effects:

Here please disable Animate controls and elements inside windows

None of the other things fixed my problem. THIS did.

Further to my previous post, I subsequently tried turning off the animations within Windows as per Mateoli's recommendation. This worked, and has enabled me to set the text size back to 100%.

I notice now that the only thing flickering is the little Paste options popup that is shown when you use Copy/Paste. This is easily dismissed by pressing the Esc key. I remember that often when closing a Word document that the otherwise blank window would be spattered with dozens of copies of this popup. Often things would be fine until some time into editing a document, when the jerking would start - perhaps it was when this popup first appeared, I can't say for certain. I only mention this in case it is helpful to developers in tracing and fixing the issue.

I had the same issue. After reading some of the posts below I tried disabling the developer tab from the customized ribbon (which I had added just before the problem started) and it solved the issue.
