MS Office Jumping Shaking jogging while scrolling or changing panes on external monitor

Hi All, 

Im running W10 with 365 office pro 

lenovo X1 Carbon notebook

when editing word documents on an external monitor, the document tends to jump around horizontally while scrolling or editing 

its a very quick, momentary motion, but enough that it is quite nauseating to look at for extended periods of time. 

interesting thing is,  i only see this behaviour while the document is on the external monitor, not when it is on the laptop monitor 

is it some interaction between word and the video driver? 

i only see this on MS word

there is a potentially related phenomena with excel where the excel pane flickers / freezes until the monitor is unplugged or excel rebooted that occurs when dragging a pane between monitors. 

any thoughts would be

    I too had this issue with a laptop and external monitor - both Dell, but I also had it using an AOC monitor. Display OK if using the additional monitor to duplicate the laptop screen, but not if extending it, which as has already been said, rather defeats the point. Also had issues with Excel screen corruption and crashing as mentioned by others.

    Running in safe mode I found no Add-ins enabled, but after going back to normal mode it seemed to have sorted itself... but only for a while. Trying various alternative screen refresh rates also gave no remedy.

    Setting the text size to 125% does work for me however. Still not a perfect solution as menu bars are chunkier and take up more precious screen area, but better than the "duplicate" option, or the pages jiggling around in that nausea-inducing way, which also makes doing any precise placing with the mouse impossible.

    I have noticed this problem is exasperate when you open a second  instance of Word (working with 2 documents on 2 external monitors).  Word becomes almost unusable.

    We'd like to know if you've already tried the suggestions that were posted by other community members in this thread such as opening Office apps in safe mode and updating the display driver. Let us know the troubleshooting steps that you've tried.

    Sorry for late response. Safe mode does not helped, display driver was updated before my post, so does not helped also.

    But this post solved the issue "mateoli replied on September 20, 2017"

    "Control panel > System and security > System > Advanced system settings (in upper-left side) > Advanced tab > Settings in Performance box > Visual effects:

    Here please disable Animate controls and elements inside windows"

    I glad to find the solution in this case, but i hope at all client not needed to change the main settings of Windows Visual effects, and Microsoft will investigate the root cause and will solve it.

    Had the same issue where my word document would shake when I was on an external monitor through a laptop expansion dock (HP Thunderbolt), after searching around and finding this fix for turning off animated controls the problem is fixed.

    Control panel > System and security > System > Advanced system settings (in upper-left side) > Advanced tab > Settings in Performance box > Visual effects:

    Here please disable Animate controls and elements inside windows
