Spell Check not working in Word 365 after automatic update

I cannot get spell check to check my document.  Word no longer highlights potential issues, and when I run the spellcheck, even when I KNOW there are misspelled words, spell check completes without prompting me for any problematic words or phrases.  (the update also wiped out all of my macros, for the second time this week!)  

I have checked the proofing options, and everything appears to be as I want it.

    Here, turning off spellcheck and grammar check as you type and running spellcheck manually with F7 certainly flags "was" as grammatically incorrect. (There are of course other issues in the sentences in your screen shot.)

    Hi Stefan

    Thanks for trying to assist.  I posted the issue in previous post:

    This issue popped up after the update wherein Microsoft redesigned the Check Document editor.

    I am using Microsoft Office 365 for Business, Version 1804, Build 9226.2156

    1.  The first issue is if you do not have "Check Spelling as you type" and/or "Mark Grammar as you type"; (in Options/ Proofing) running the "ABC Check Document" button from the "Review" tab will not find any spelling or grammar errors.  

    2.  The next issue is that the Grammar Checking is not working.  It sporadically may find an error but for the most part it does not find obvious grammatical errors at all.  And YES I have checked and double checked all troubleshooting suggestions.

    I type:  "Lets try this again for heavens sake?" - it comes up with zero grammatical errors in that sentence.

    Here's another sentence, "Jack and Jill went ups the hill to fetch a pale of water.  Their buckets was never fill"  With both "Check Spelling as you type" and/or "Mark Grammar as you type"; (in Options/ Proofing) no grammar errors come up either by (1) marked as you type or (2) when you click on the "ABC Check Document" button.

    I will post a screen shot next.

    I have tried this on three other computers that were updated and none find any errors.  However, on the one computer that was not updated - thereby using the old version of Editor - all the grammar errors come up.

    So if you have the updated Word - what happens when you type on those sentences (or any sentence with obvious grammar errors?

    Since users here are volunteers (with very few exceptions), it would actually be fair to say that Microsoft almost never "admits" bugs in this forum.

    That said, as an MVP, I'm happy to report suspected bugs via "MVP channels," but I need steps to reproduce them consistently. Therefore, the process is often (painfully) long.

    Thanks.  Microsoft really needs to get on this.  But unfortunately in the past, it usually takes at least dozens of people chiming in that they are experiencing an issue before they admit that it's bug that they created.   At the very least, they need to acknowledge the problem and get the word out that spell checker and grammar checker are not working so people won's rely on it.

    But in the meantime, there's going to be a lot of error-filled documents going out!
