Spell Check not working in Word 365 after automatic update

I cannot get spell check to check my document.  Word no longer highlights potential issues, and when I run the spellcheck, even when I KNOW there are misspelled words, spell check completes without prompting me for any problematic words or phrases.  (the update also wiped out all of my macros, for the second time this week!)  

I have checked the proofing options, and everything appears to be as I want it.

    Yes, shift F1 says language is English.  I did post in UserVoice.  

    What do you get when you type the sentence in?  That would be helpful.

    If "do not check" had been checked for that text, it would have shown up.

    When you type in this sentence, does grammar checker work?

    Grammar and to some extent spell checker have not worked since Microsoft updated Editor.   This is not an isolated incident, this is a universal bug.

    The grammar checker is on and the language is correct.  

    This is a major bug that Microsoft needs to address. 

    Just to confirm.

    Did you press Shift+F1 in a sentence where there was a problem?

    I expect you did, but your responses don't tell me that.

    I understand you are upset. People in this forum have no say in how Word works. We are trying to help people use the real, imperfect, product that is Microsoft Word.

    UserVoice and the Feedback Hub are where changes/fixes can be prompted. The people in charge of development do read those suggestions. That doesn't mean they do what we want, but they do read them.

    With all due respect Stefan, this odd response is not very helpful at all.  To say that there have been some reports that grammar checker isn't as useful as can be expected is untrue and more than an understatement.  There have been numerous reports that the grammar checker has not worked at all since the update to the new Editor.  

    To type in:  "This is to tests the grammars mistakes in these sentence to see if their fixes." and get zero grammar errors is not even close to "not as useful as can be expected."  Try it.  Do you think this is acceptable?

    And then to 'solve' the problem by saying - just don't use the grammar checker, is a bit bizarre.  If grammar checker is not going to work, then it should be removed.  Having a broken feature is much, much worse than not having the feature at all?

    Feedback has been posted to UserVoice many times; with absolutely no feedback.

    Understanding that you are a "Word MVP" volunteer moderator and have no control over bug issues, to say that you just don't use the grammar checker?  

    Appreciate that you have responded and we will take from your reply that there is and will be no fix to this bug coming anytime soon.  This forum has been a colossal waste of time.

    There have been some reports in this forum that the grammar checking part of the new Editor isn't as useful as can be expected. Personally I don't use the grammar checker so I can't comment further on that.

    What you can do is post feedback in the Uservoice forum at https://word.uservoice.com.
