Spell Check not working in Word 365 after automatic update

I cannot get spell check to check my document.  Word no longer highlights potential issues, and when I run the spellcheck, even when I KNOW there are misspelled words, spell check completes without prompting me for any problematic words or phrases.  (the update also wiped out all of my macros, for the second time this week!)  

I have checked the proofing options, and everything appears to be as I want it.

    I tried all the point from this website, but they didn't work for me. Maybe they'll work for someone else.

    I have exactly the same problem. Microsoft has offered no solution. Have tried their chat and forums unsuccessfully. I do a lot of writing so the spell checker is very important. I expected better customer service from Microsoft.

    solved my problem--go to ‘FILE’ menu then select ‘Options’

    • Select ‘Proofing’ from the left hand menu
    • Under ‘Exceptions for’ select ‘All New Documents’
    • Ensure that both options are not enabled

    Mine were checked. After unchecking them, problem was solved.

    Well, I never said that YOU should stop using the grammar checker, only that I don't use it.

    On my installation of Office 2016 Professional Plus (which does not have the Editor), "these sentence" is flagged as grammatically incorrect (when language is set to US English):

    "Tests" is not flagged and neither is "if their fixes."  I certainly agree that this is unacceptable, although the grammar checker has always had limitations.

    I guess I'm really wondering what you expect the Community to do about the bug, when you know that we don't work for Microsoft. (Yes, it appears to be a bug, although we don't know if Microsoft will recognize it as a bug.)
