Touchpad scroll not working with Excel 2010

Good day all,

I have an Acer Aspire ES 15 running 64bit Windows 10 and Office 2010 Professional.

I've just built this machine from new and the only application or situation where 2 fingered scrolling on the touchpad doesn't work is Excel 2010.

Following some online advice I ran a fix which didn't fix it.

I also uninstalled Office 2010. That's when I found out Office 365 was pre-installed. I uninstalled that as well. I have now performed a fresh install of Office 2010 and still have the same problem with Excel 2010 only.

Btw, this is happening for all excel files whether they have freeze panes or not.

Any thoughts or help would be much appreciated.

    Since this is happening to a lot of users and not only the author of this thread, we would like to collate more information about the matter. Please post the following so we can investigate this further:

    • What is your Windows 10build and version?
      • You can have that checked by pressing the Windows button + R on your keyboard and type "winver" on the Run box and press Enter.
    • What is build and version of Office 2010is installed on your computer?
      • You can check that by following the steps indicated on this link.

    Please don't hesitate to keep us posted so we can see what troubleshooting steps can we perform for this issue.

    my versions:

    Windows 10, 1709, Build 16299.192

    Excel 2010 14.0.7192.500, SP2 MSO 14.0.7192.5000

    The problem came with Creators upgrade - before it all worked fine.

    At the same time the "send to eMail" was broken too, but later fixed

    with additional upgrades.

    But the touchpad scroll problem still remains in all Excel Dialog

    (not only the Spreadsheet - it's broken everywhere in Excel - even file open/save dialog)

    Seems like a low-level handler for Tochpad Scroll in excel is broken.

    There was definitely a change in the behavior of the Windows Touchpad because

    other apps (such as Windows start dialog, Windows Explorer, etc) are now better than before

    (smooth scrolling) - definitely an improvement.

    But this improvement in the touchpad driver seems not to be working with Excel 2010.

    Solution is to update Excel in order to comply with the updated Touchpad driver that Microsoft rolled out.

    Don't roll back to the old touchpad driver because I think the story goes into the right direction.

    Smooth scrolling should be working everywhere - even if this means to update some apps like Excel.
