OneNote is not responding to typing

Hey Guys,

Having an issue with OneNote for Mac at the moment where the keyboard stops working on OneNote and I cannot type anything until I restart the program.

Super annoying to keep restarting and every other application on my Mac works fine. I think it is a problem associated with the latest OneNote update.

My OneNote version is 15.35.1 (170616)

please let me know how to fix this?

Office Insider is a preview program for consumer Office 365 subscribers, which is why you do not see it if you install OneNote via the Mac App Store.

For those who still have the issue on 15.38, please share the reproduce steps to help find the root cause if you do have one.

For those who can't update to 15.38, please wait until it is generally available to try it out.

As the thread is attracting a lot of spam, I will be locking the thread from further replies. If you have a solid reproduce steps to share, please create a new thread and we will respond in a timely manner.

    I have updates but still constantly freezing. Other people seem to have same problem and routine answers of updating your updates doesn't really fix the problem

    I have 15.36 installed and disabled the touchpad when using the mouse.  The issue was intermittent but so far it has not occurred since both of these things were done.

    Did this solve the problem? I am having the same issue and it is very frustrating. Almost makes OneNote unusable.

    Hi Amro,

    Sorry you're experiencing issues with typing on Mac OneNote. We've seen reports of this in the current shipping version, and it isn't appearing in later builds, so we think we have this fixed.

    You can get an early version of OneNote by joining our insiders program, if you wish.

    This only works if you are using Mac Office, and not just the stand alone version of OneNote.

    To do that, here are the steps.

    1. Launch OneNote or another Mac Office App (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
    2. Go to the Help Menu and select ‘Check For Updates’
    3. There is a check box to join the insiders program. 
    4. There are two options, Fast and Slow. 

    a. Fast will get you weekly builds

    b. Slow will get you monthly builds.

    1. You can then click on check for updates
    2. You will get a list of apps that are available for download
