Error Code: 0xE0000007 in OneNote

I have one section of one notebook in OneNote that keeps coming up with Couldn't Sync and showing the Error Code: 0xE0000007. I have gone through all the steps shown online:

Open the OneNote online, then open the Notebook section and use 'Open in OneNote' to open it on my desktop. Then try to sync - failed

Copy (not Move) all of the notes in the affected section to a newly minted section, delete the original section and sync the new one - failed

So I tried making some minor changes in the section, re-synced, got the 'Couldn't Sync' error, but when I check back online all of the changes I made have synced. Why am I getting this error?

I only have one notebook that this has affected because I haven't opened the others in weeks.

This is synced to a personal one drive.

    Hi All,

Thanks for reporting the issue.  I'd like to make a summary about the thread, so other community members who come across this thread will easily find the useful information:

    Issue Description

You get a OneNote sync issue as below when syncing notebooks stored in your personal OneDrive, after updating OneNote version from 15.37 to 15.38

Note before proceeding: A community member has suggested that this error may be a false positive. It means that even though OneNote displays an error,  your notes are still being synced through the cloud. You're welcome to check this by making some changes through OneNote on your Mac and then logging into OneNote Online and confirming if the changes are synced.

If OneNote is syncing, we suggest monitoring the thread for updates. Only proceed to the workaround  if you absolutely do not want to see the sync error.

    Workaround

Go to the Update history for Office 2016 for Mac page via the following URL:https://support.office.com/en-us/article/Update-history-for-Office-2016-for-Mac-700cab62-0d67-4f23-947b-3686cb1a8eb7 -> Scroll down and look for 15.37 and find the link for OneNote ->  go into your Applications folder and move Microsoft OneNote 2016 version 15.38 to the Trash and emptied the trash. Then you install the 15.37 version and keep the rest of your Office 2016 apps at 15.38 version.

    More information

We have reported the issue to related team for further investigation.  Please subscribe to the this thread for further updates.

    Regards,

    Sky

Sky, THANK YOU for escalating this issue!

I had this problem too until moving back 15.37.  So, for those of you with this problem, installing the 15.37 version does fix the problem!  You will no longer get sync errors.

Sky, I do think the errors received under 15.38 are false positives.   I could never find any real errors in the files across platforms.  In testing, all changes to notes appeared to be transferred properly.
