Error Code: 0xE0000007 in OneNote

I have one section of one notebook in OneNote that keeps coming up with Couldn't Sync and showing the Error Code: 0xE0000007. I have gone through all the steps shown online:

Open the OneNote online, then open the Notebook section and use 'Open in OneNote' to open it on my desktop. Then try to sync - failed

Copy (not Move) all of the notes in the affected section to a newly minted section, delete the original section and sync the new one - failed

So I tried making some minor changes in the section, re-synced, got the 'Couldn't Sync' error, but when I check back online all of the changes I made have synced. Why am I getting this error?

    Thanks for this information. While I very much appreciate any "self-help article", your referred article unfortunately is some how incomplete.

    a) Section "Common steps to resolution, item 2": The description how to force synchronization of OneNote on iOS is missing. It seems that some Microsoft people assume that this function isn't available on OneNote for iOS, but it is. It is the same procedure as you would force synchronize contacts, calender etc.

    b) Most important workaround based on my experience with any version 16.x of OneNote on iOS showing error 0xE0000007:

    • close the OneNote app
    • reset the login credentials in iOS settings for next start of OneNote
    • open OneNote and enter your user name and password again.

    Thank you Microsoft that you do not want to add option to do local backup in Onenote for Mac. I lost all data when closed and opened not synchronised pages.

    Has anyone tried the 15.40.0 onenote update? Does it fix this annoying error 7?
