Error Code: 0xE0000007 in OneNote

I have one section of one notebook in OneNote that keeps coming up with Couldn't Sync and showing the Error Code: 0xE0000007. I have gone through all the steps shown online:

Open the OneNote online, then open the Notebook section and use 'Open in OneNote' to open it on my desktop. Then try to sync - failed

Copy (not Move) all of the notes in the affected section to a newly minted section, delete the original section and sync the new one - failed

So I tried making some minor changes in the section, re-synced, got the 'Couldn't Sync' error, but when I check back online all of the changes I made have synced. Why am I getting this error?

    Sky,

Is there any way that you can give us customers an estimate of how long it will take to resolve this issue?  Is it given a higher priority?

    Thanks

    Hi Jeff,

If you're getting the exact same error and you're using personal OneDrive, we will share more updates once we have more information. For now, if the workaround doesn't work, please use OneNote Online to take notes to make sure it is saved to the cloud.

If you are experiencing a different issue, please list the detailed reproducing steps and some related screenshots about the symptoms of the issue so that we can focus on the specific issue for troubleshooting.

    Regards,

    Cliff

Good point for Outlook users.  I personally do not use Outlook on my Mac so I had not thought of that.  Wouldn't the Outlook profile and data be stored somewhere else in the user's home directory though?

When I uninstalled OneNote by moving the app to the trash and installed OneNote 15.37; when I opened OneNote all of my settings (account info) and cached notebooks were still intact.

If Microsoft AutoUpdate is set to either Manually Check or Automatically Check when AU runs you'll see OneNote 15.38 today which you'll have it ignore, or when 15.39 or whatever newer version is released you should see it at that time.

I am hesitant to suggest uninstalling the whole suite and reverting to 15.37 if you use Outlook. Doing so is likely to render your profile useless.

I prefer to go with your suggestion to turn AutoUpdate off and run with the mixed combination. The only problem with that is, when the fix comes out, you won't automatically get it or know about it. Or leave AutoUpdate on and restore the previous build of OneNote whenever AutoUpdate decides to trash the previous version.

Microsoft's completely remove page doesn't make it clear enough, in my opinion, that if you follow the instructions you lose all the userdata for Outlook.
