Cannot print from Publisher

None of the 2007 apps will print to any printer (including all pdf drivers), if you do not want to send any more money to MS, I found the best method is to save as pdf (There print options, like selective pages e.g. 1, 3-10 and 3-5, 11 etc etc), then print it with a PDF app (I use a free version of the PDF-XChange Viewer. I works very good for me.

I found a solution that worked for me, so I thought I would share it. After Windows 10 updates, I could no longer print from Publisher.

Here's what didn't work:

• uninstalling updates (some would not uninstall and required manual removal from registry)
• saving file under new name
• updating printer drivers
• uninstalling MS Office, running registry cleaner, and reinstalling Office

Here's what worked:

Through the process of elimination (systematically deleting each graphic and text box), I determined that one of my fonts (dense-regular.otf) had been corrupted by the Windows updates, or at the very least would not allow Publisher to print. I deleted that font from my Publisher file, and IT PRINTED!

Thanks for the tip.  I never thought the font files may be the cause of the problem.  However, I've used several different fonts in different documents and it still won't print.  They can't all be corrupt can they?  What works for me is to save the  publisher document as a PDF file (print to PDF) which will then print without a problem.

Ok , I have been fighting this for months.  Got a new computer and reinstalled my old publisher program.  Works like a charm.  Took the old computer and wiped it clean.  Standard windows 10 install.  Nothing fancy.  Reinstalled publisher and it froze again.  Same thing.  would not print.  Looked at 3 other computers purchased at the same time.  The other 2 have different motherboards and chipsets.  Our conclusion, some new update to windows 10 is not compatible with the old mother board or processor. 

Conclusion, I upgraded the machine but did not have to upgrade to 365 or yearly subscription service.  My old MS publisher features work well once again.  The other 2 old machines are having no problems.  Just the one with the different board and CPU.

Microsoft ends the support for the 2007 Office, even you could still use it, but all print (to any printer including printing to PDF driver)functions are disabled.  The only way to over come this problem for printing, is to save as PDF, fire up any pdf reader, print the pdf file as usual.
