Cannot print from Publisher

I can no longer get publisher to print to any printer, including a physical printer (HPLaserJet) or to a file, i.e. a PDF.  It tries to connect for about 30 seconds and then once connected the print button remains greyed out.  All other MS Office programs work fine.  Any ideas?

    I am having the exact same problem with Publisher 2007 and with Microsoft PDF print.  My printer is  an HP OfficeJet 4650 but the problem started with a Windows update. 

    Sue, it is NOT your printer problem nor should we have to have “work arounds” to print from publisher 2007. 

    For those actually employed by Microsoft who follow this thread, we would appreciate a response directly from tech itself. Tell us what YOU found and how Microsoft intends to FIX that problem.  All of the users have similar stories of printing problems only from publisher after a recent windows update. This alone should give you a great idea where to start in analyzing the problem.  A direct response from MS, relating directly to our specific concern, would be a step in the right direction. Come on MS, we are all waiting.....

    Absolutely...Microsoft is trying to force folks to upgrade, it IS so wrong, never mind that I, for one, continue to be very happy with my ancient version (2007) of Publisher which is on my home computer, and absolutely loathe the newest version, which is on a couple of the other computers I use regularly.  I do a lot of desktop publishing at home as well as at work. Publisher is my go-to program, and it is very frustrating to have to remember to take that extra step and save everything as a .pdf in order to be able to print it on either of my printers.  But, I do, and it works, but that doesn't make me any less absolutely disgusted and appalled by the the mighty Microsoft's lack of interest fixing this problem.  BAH! Thumbs down to you, Microsoft!

    Thanks Bill I have tried PDF but it loses formatting, saving as  PNG is much better for me

    I had the same problem with my wife's PC and could not print with primoPDF either. Moving the file to my windows 10 PC and printing to my Lexmark worked.  This worked on my Wife's PC . In publisher go to select file (not the printer button) (You may have to expand the drop down) and select "Publish as PDF or SPF .."  then save it some place easy like desktop open in PDF and print.
