OneNote - All Notebooks Suddenly Empty

My world heavily linked into this application and nine notebooks were suddenly emptied off all their content - right in front of my eyes. All I did was start it up, and was about to type when it all just went away and I got this message:

"There are no sections open in this notebook or section group

Click here to create a new section**"**

Now I did go to backup - but it's not restoring my notebooks the way they were.

These books are also located in OneDrive, but I can't bring them in.

I would like to know why this happened.

It appears that Microsoft OneNote is unstable and nobody has any real answers.

This concerns Office 2010.

Can someone please help.

Hi everyone - some update.

I believe this issue was resolved last Friday, 08/19. Please check Denise's answer here, and let us know if it is fixed with your latest update. To get the update immediately, open OneNote and click File> Account > Update Options > Update Now.

Same here, have you checked on-line my notebooks are there and look fine but wont sync to the office 2010 program, loads of windows updates today so it may be one of those I'm waiting in a queue for on-line chat for some help.

Exactly. The same thing happened with me.

Unfortunately, I dont see the notebook anywhere on my desktop or in onedrive.

Microsoft please resolve this issue, how can onenote not save the data on the local PC? I have been using this notebook since 9 months, and all my data is lost all of a sudden !

Please help.

I too have just had this very same issue. All notebooks when accessed via Onenote 2010 are completely empty. I was using the application fine just an hour or so ago, but when I accessed it again about 10 minutes ago I noticed the issue.

Just FYI you can still seemingly access your notebooks via https://www.onenote.com/hrd

You're even able to select the "Edit in Onenote" button on the top toolbar, and it'll open up in your local application.

I'm very worried that I'll lose some data in this bug.

Having the same problem. However, I can see everything still in the online version.
