How do I turn off READ ONLY permanently???

I'm sick of office locking my files to Read Only.

I have files I use all the time in my one drive folder, I'll open one and word decides it is Read Only and to make a change I need to save it as a new name.

I email a file to my wife to read, she makes changes and emails it back...now its Read Only.

How do disable this frustrating crap interfering with my workflow?  It's making me crazy!!!

    Some people have reported that "taking ownership" of the the affected folder (such as the Documents folder) will fix these kinds of problems. It's best to ask in a Windows forum for specific instructions.

    I will try this as someone else also suggested it.  For others with the same question, (although not ideal) it will be resolved by the owner of the original document changing permissions so that 'anyone' can access and edit it.  There must be some default in the original doc which only gives others read only access - or something like that.  I have yet to work this through.

    Really, why can't we have a tick box:

    "I'm an adult, I don't need Microsoft to baby sit me, I can make my own decisions. Give me full access to all the documents and settings on my PC"
