OneNote making my text invisible!

I imagine this is some sort of bug...

OneNote in Office 365 on Windows 10

I use OneNote for a lot of notes, including one section that is password protected. All of a sudden a few days ago, it has this very annoying glitch where the text I type is invisible.

It basically allows me to type / click check boxes, etc., but it is all invisible. As in, it creates space for the words but there is nothing there. I mostly have been using the password protected section, so I notice it there. If I close OneNote and open it back up, the previously invisible words then show up. Sometimes it lets me type regularly again, or sometimes it just makes any new text I type invisible also.

If I press backspace, for example, the cursor moves backwards but the deleted words are still visible (until I close the program, for example).

If I switch to a non-password protected section the words are usually invisible while typing also- but if I keep typing gibberish then after a few seconds, this seems to reset and do the same thing as closing / reopening the program.

Any ideas? This is quite annoying!

This issue is also occurring for me. I will type text and the cursor will move as if it is typing but the text does not appear. A short-term solution I have found is that switching to another section and then switching back to the "trouble" section then displays the text when typing.

I have tried both Quick and Full Repair.

The version is Office 365 Home Edition OneNote 2016 desktop app on Windows 10.

Hi Brian,

I installed the Analyzer Tool and scanned OneNote. There where no issues reported. I also ran a scan on Word with the same result.

Are you using OneNote that came with Office 2016 or the Windows 10 pre-installed OneNote?

I have been experiencing the same problem -- invisible text that I type in OneNote 365, for maybe two weeks. Here are some specifics:

* When I switch from another window to give OneNote the focus, I click somewhere and start typing, but the type is invisible. If I click on another OneNote tab, and then back to the original tab, the text that I typed shows up, and allows me to proceed normally. It won't happen again until I switch to another app (such as Internet Explorer) for a while and then go back to OneNote.

* I've been using OneNote for a couple of years in this exact environment, and the only thing I can think of that's changed is that I upgraded from Office 365 Small Business to Office 365 Business about when this started happening. It seems like the bug was introduced in that version, because it never happened before that upgrade. I do not see this problem in any other app.

* I'm using the desktop version of Office 365 Business version 1720 build 7870.2024.

* I had this problem on Win 7 Pro, and today upgraded my machine to Win 10, but the problem persists.

* I have two side-by-side monitors and this problem seems to happen when OneNote is on the left/secondary monitor. But this fact may not be relevant.

* I have not noticed any other odd behavior in OneNote or in any of my other apps including the full Office suite.

I am using the OneNote that comes with Office Prof. 2016, not the pre-installed OneNote.
