Word 2016 error.

   "There are too many edits in the document. This operation will be incomplete. Save your work."

Apparently this is an antiquated condition based on the answers posted in 2011.

This is 2016. There is nothing in the blank document.

I've been copying information from WEB into Word for recording and reference for years and have never had this problem until today. Tried piecemeal with no success.

Notice that Office 2016 was recently updated and if this feature was reincorporated it's not a good thing unless there is

an override somewhere in Doc Options that can be switched on to ignore this condition?

The user should be in control. If the MCP is listening please don't take it personal.

Hi everyone,

I’m told that his issue is now fixed in the latest Office 2016 updated, which we recently released.

The current version is 16.0.6965.2058. This update contains features in the May feature update described below, plus new security and non-security updates. To find out more, go to our release notes page, and under Channel, click Current.

To get the update immediately, open any Office 2016 app and choose File > Account > Update Options >Update Now.

    Yesterday I reverted back to the previous Office 2016 version from May 10th (the most recent revision prior to the May 23rd version that caused this issue).  I used the directions provided by Stefan Blom on 6-4-16 and it went smoothly and I no longer am experiencing the "too many edits" problem.  I will turn auto updates back on after it appears a newer Microsoft release has fixed this problem.  Thanks Stefan!

    Not sure if I posted this but in case I did not.  Once I updated my display link drivers the problem was fixed.  There is a great program called offcat if you google that will analyze your program and it helped.

    ... to get the error to occur repeatedly:

    1. Open Word and create a blank document
    2. Open Snipping Tool and snip a bit of the desktop to get an image
    3. CTRL C in snipping tool, switch to Word, and do CTRL V to paste the image into the document.
    4. Select the image just pasted
    5. Copy or Cut
    6. Attempt to paste back into the document with keep source formatting and the error is displayed

    The error is also displayed if word is started in safe mode or with run winword /a

    The problem appears to have gone away or has been fixed (although the Office version has not changed).  

    I cannot recreate the error as I could previously.  I've installed a lot more programs since then (the problem was occurring on a clean build) so the conditions aren't exactly the same.

    It would be nice if MS could confirm if they have patched it.
