Word 2016 error.

   "There are too many edits in the document. This operation will be incomplete. Save your work."

Apparently this is an antiquated condition based on the answers posted in 2011.

This is 2016. There is nothing in the blank document.

I've been copying information from WEB into Word for recording and reference for years and have never had this problem until today. Tried piecemeal with no success.

Notice that Office 2016 was recently updated and if this feature was reincorporated it's not a good thing unless there is

an override somewhere in Doc Options that can be switched on to ignore this condition?

The user should be in control. If the MCP is listening please don't take it personal.

Hi everyone,

I’m told that his issue is now fixed in the latest Office 2016 updated, which we recently released.

The current version is 16.0.6965.2058. This update contains features in the May feature update described below, plus new security and non-security updates. To find out more, go to our release notes page, and under Channel, click Current.

To get the update immediately, open any Office 2016 app and choose File > Account > Update Options >Update Now.

    I found a work around.  I do brochures that include my prospects company logo. Just started today 6/1/16 that now I cannot remove the last one and paste over it with the new logo -  now get a "too many edits" error.  I found that if I do Control V instead of "Paste" it actually pastes.  Will not work with paste button

    Same issue with Word 2016 Version 16.0.6868.2067 on Windows 10.  Issue started a few days ago.  I thought it had gotten corrupted because there was a power failure the night before I had the issue.  Ran the On-Line repair which didn't fix.  Came here today and found this.   Thanks for the Clipboard Paste.  That works for me.  I always right click and paste or CTRL-V.  Forgot all about that and didn't think to try it since the others didn't work.  I was pasting the image into excel and copying from there to paste into word.  That was a pain.  I would prefer to use CTRL-V though so hopefully your engineers will get it fixed and update it.

    Hello everybody,

    I have exactly the same problem. Can't copy a picture in a word document even if it is in the same word document and get the message  "There are too many edits in the document. This operation will be incomplete. Save your work."

    I tried everything out there and nothing fixed it. I also noticed that when trying to copy paste, my document would stop working and restart again without saving the last work done. If it's an update issue i hope it will be resolved soon.

    I feel really stupid but how do you use a clipboard?

    The clipboard is the location where data ends up after you have cut or copied it; in other words, the clipboard is the source when you paste.

    There is also a Clipboard pane in Word that you can use to collect several pieces of data and get more control over them. It is the internal Word/Office clipboard.
