Welllp.... that method deleted the files off my phone, but NOT out of the WORD files list.  I still get the "... you do not have permission to delete..." message.  Rats.  Still no solution.  😕

On my Android tablet - Samsung tab S2 - I have received various word attachments in emails and when I go to delete them Word or maybe the tablet, won't let me, saying "you do not have permission to delete this file."

The only place I can find these files on my tablet is in the Recent files list when I  launch Word.  I've looked in my files folder and do not see the files.  But I wish to delete them from my tablet.

I am not sure what you mean by "what applications used to try and delete these files." I am not using anything except the ... beside the file inside of Word.

I am getting frustrated trying to remove files from my tablet.  Office was included and loaded onto the tablet when I purchased it in late 2016.

    Thanks

    John Luciani

    Hi John,

We need additional details to address your concern with deleting files from Word for Android. Kindly answer the following:

    • Which Android version is installed on your device?
    • Which version of Word are you using?

In the meantime, try deleting the files from OneDrive Online by following the instruction in this article. After deleting the files, refresh your Word app and check if the files are still there.

We will be waiting for your response.
