Unable to delete Word file in an Android Device

I am trying to delete a file but Word (android GalaxyNote5) is saying I do not have permission to delete

    Unfortunately, this just masks the problem - the actual file is still not deleted and is still occupying your precious storage space. After these steps you only "hide" it from Word.

    If that is the case, where are the actual files being hidden?  I would love to find them and get rid of them.  As for space, so far this is not an issue since I don't normally use my tablet for heavy word processing.  These are mostly in-coming email attachments for me.

    You can read this thread - there's a lot of information as well as "hacks" to resolve the issue.

    In short the only real way to delete these files (assuming your phone is not rooted) is to Clear Data for the Word application. However this will remove all the Word data, thus you will have to input your Microsoft account again.

    But, yet again, this is not the "normal" solution you would like to use.

    Clearing all data works for me.  I do not mind inputing word again since I very seldom use it on my tablet.
