I am trying to delete a file but Word (android GalaxyNote5) is saying I do not have permission to delete

Yet again you have to read previous messages in this thread before posting... This is NOT a right solution, even though it does the trick of deleting the files.
I appreciate your point and reply. However I am easily able to delete Word docs / files from my S8. It appears to me that Word is simply a portal to view docs stored on phone and not the primary storage location. If I access them via My Files on S8 and then delete them, I am able to use 'remove from list' on Word and they go. The route I use is to close Word open Samsung My files and select downloads, identify the file to be deleted and without opening doc delete via three dots to right hand side. Works for me every time, unless I'm missing something. Anyway best wishes.
For most files that you actually save, yes. They will be saved in general storage. In this point you are right, and there are no problems in deleting these files.
However, if you try opening files attached to, for example, an email without saving them, then Word will implicitly save them in it's own data folder (the one mentioned in this thread, that has path like /data/user/xxxxxxxx....) and will use them. And no other application has access to another application's data folder. And it appears that Word itself fails somehow to delete these files. How? I have no idea.

Read my post then. I did not say it was either right or wrong. I said it works. There are scores of posts in this thread that are citing this same issue and there are very few solutions. My solution works. Until Microsoft fixes the problem and makes it a simple click to delete, I'll use my fix.
I am trying to delete word document downloads from my phone and am not allowed permission. They are my on call lists from work. I have tried to follow the troubleshooting and file manager helps and still nothing. HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
