Christina,
It actually is not that straightforward. The files that are so bothersome do not appear anywhere you try to search. They only appear in Microsoft word's own private little cushy list. Which will keep on showing up and bothering you.
Edit: I saw some one going gung ho on your country bumpkin claim, and who trashes techies. Good luck to bumpkins, rule the world now. MIcrosoft techies will be right behind you bumpkins.
Ok then. How does one delete word files from an Android tablet? It tells me I don't have permission. So it's my tablet, my file and my copy of Word yet I don't have permission? <REMOVED>

To John,
I can tell you what I did.
Since the file doesn't show up anywhere outside of WORD itself,
1. open word app
2. Close all files (actually just the one that is open, or no files open at all)
3. Check your "recent files" list.
4. Next to where the culprit appears, click on the 3 dots, for the menu
5. Click on "remove from list."
There will be then no way the file will appear anywhere at all.
Pray.
Love from Subha.
Thanks. But isn't that just hiding the file? Or does that delete it off of the device. Or, is it still in the Microsoft cloud, which by the way I have never selected anything to be stored in the cloud.
Thanks for the help Subha.
