Unable to delete Word file in an Android Device

The only solution you have (assuming your phone is not rooted):

0. Contact Office support and pester them about this problem.
1. Navigate to Android Settings -> Applications -> Word (or whatever you oppened that file with)
2. Clear that application's data (this will clear all the data this application has, including saved login, but it will NOT touch any other files on your phone)
3. Open that application and relogin
4. Tour file is gone.

This is not a "good" solution, but there is no other better one. It's Microsoft's fault for being lenient to fix this.

I too have same issue. I saved an excel file from email. I am the author. But cant delete due to permissions.i don't know where the file is stored...except to "this device"....I want to delete.....please help.

you clear all Word data (this will remove all those "opened" files, will make you login again).

And contact Office support to remind them of this problem.

Yes, there is no "valid" solution at the moment.

Only to clear all data (via Android application settings) or having your device rooted. Neither is a good way to do it, especially the later one.

As I always recommend - contact Office support and pester them with this problem.

The more we point that out, the higher the chance is for them to fix that.

The problem was not in randomly deleting random files. The problem is deleting PDF that are sent or downloaded from an email. We get a window that says we do not have permission to delete that pdf file. That's BS! And no one yet has given us a viable solution. Yours has us delete all the files we DO want to keep in addition to those PDF files we don't want!
