After the last Windows 10 update was installed, my scroll inactive windows setting for my mouse no longer works in Excel 2016 without selecting the window first. This is a major inconvenience. Is there a fix for this?

I tried this and it broke some display settings or fonts or something in Excel. I'm guessing that I would need to change the default program for some additional Excel-related file types. Anyway, I reversed it and am living with the issue for now.
I just tested to copy/rename EXCEL.exe of Excel 2010 under Windows 7.
Both, copying and renaming of the Excel 2010 exe-file caused error (missing MSVCR90.dll).
When the copy is named EXCEL.exe it works.
==> It looks Excel 2010 does not open when its exe-file name is different from EXCEL,
whereas Excel 2013 has no problem to open on the copied(/renamed) excel.exe
(Windows 7 or 10 seems no to be the reason for the copied Excel 2010 not opening)
Yes, excel opens, but we're also back to the original problem, at least on my machine, so I guess I'm also back to haranguing Microsoft till they fix it :) Thanks for the suggestions though.
So this thread has been abandoned by Microsoft staff? No help with this issue at all?
This needs to be escalated. This is a GIANT problem.
