After the last Windows 10 update was installed, my scroll inactive windows setting for my mouse no longer works in Excel 2016 without selecting the window first.  This is a major inconvenience.  Is there a fix for this?

Thanks.

To isolate your concern, is Scroll inactive windows when I hover over them toggled to ON? Here's how to check:

    1. Click Windows Start menu.
    2. Click Settings then Devices.
    3. Click Mouse & touchpad.
    4. Make sure Scroll inactive windows when I hover over them is toggled to ON.

    Update us on the result.

    Regards.

I also have this problem on all 3 of my computers.  All are running Win10 with Excel 2016 through an Office 365 subscription.

Creating a copy of the Excel executable, naming it Excel2 and then setting it as the default program to open Excel files solves the problem.

Not a great workaround as every time Excel updates through my subscription I have to go make a new copy, set the default, blah blah blah.

Please submit this bug and have it resolved!

    Hello Michelle,

for my support item 1 (failure in Excel function YIELD) I just opened the "Question"

    https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/msoffice/forum/msoffice\_excel-mso\_other/failure-in-function-yield-originally-seen-in-excel/c6ac807d-23fc-476e-bd81-a4b0102dc588?tm=1481350911648

Please note, this is not a Question, but the Information to Microsoft, that the function YIELD had a failure already in Excel 2004 and as I have just confirmed the failure is still present in Excel 2013 (based on poor possibilities to inform such problems to Microsoft they probably never got aware of this failure).

As I cannot attach in this forum an Excel file including all the slightly different test calculations I created, I reduced the information in the "Question" to 2 Examples which hopefully clearly show Microsoft the failure.

For my support item 2 (this morning I ran again 2x in the strange situation, that I could access internet by Firefox, but not by EDGE, before the 3rd connection gave me 100% connectivity -this reply is created in EDGE-) I want to repeat my request for support outside the limitations/possibilities of this forum.

    i) It doesn't make sense to put a Question, because the situation Firefox is working, EDGE is not working is so odd, that I even would not know what to ask for/inform more about (except the single statement: Firefox working, EDGE not working)

ii) It also doesn't make sense to open a discussion, because such odd situation as Firefox is working while EDGE issues an error message should be a very specific situation, which I could not imagine several or even a lot of people are experiencing (on the other side this is my regular situation since more than 1 year -may be up to 3 years- with relatively few changes).

I have more information/details, but cannot come to any conclusion from it. Therefore the only effective way to proceed I see is by doing a "Failure Analysis". I think it is impossible for Microsoft to replicate my set-up. Therefore the only way to analyze the root cause of my problem is that I perform the failure analysis. But to do this I need the support of a professional who has deep knowledge on how Windows establishes the internet connection.

I put pressure on my internet service provider, but i) basically no progress and ii) that my internet connectivity changes from 50% to 100% without any information to my internet service provider (this means no changes on his network) indicates that the problem should rather be an interaction problem.

Therefore I want to repeat my question for support from a Microsoft internet connectivity specialist to identify the root cause, why does my PC quite regularly establish the odd internet connectivity which I can summarize in the statement Firefox is working while at the same time EDGE is not working (in reality I see more details and some items changed over time).

Please discuss with Microsoft's internet connectivity group, if Microsoft would be willing to support a Failure Analysis on my long time, relatively stable, strange situation Firefox is working, EDGE is not working.
