Student Progress Database Application

Hello everyone!

I want to make an application for keeping track of students’ progress marks each month of the year using Access 2010. Suppose I have 10 literacy centers in 10 different locations each with 35-40 students enrolled. I want to generate a monthly Access  report showing the progress of each student in each of the subjects taught.

I have designed forms for entering details of each center, instructor and student saved in separate tables. All I need to do is find a way to generate month-wise students’ progress reports for each of the 10 literacy centers to be handed over to the center manager.

What would be the best way this could be done using Access 2010?

    Okay, I tried several times for the second cross tab query to work, yet it splashes the same error. I have the form open for its reference. I have both the queries open, and the first one filters the results when the center code is selected from the form, but the second one. i.e. the crosstab gives the same error I showed above. I can't resolve this and do not know what direction to take now.

    The form has to be open for the the form reference to be recognized.

    I'm afraid, this isn't working. Apparently, it doesn't like using the [Forms]![Formname]![CenterCode] stuff in the crosstab. I created the first query and that worked exactly as you described, each student having 4 records for the 4 subjects. Then created another query, the crosstab using this first simple select query as the source. As soon as I ran the query, the following error message popped up:

    The error message says, " The MS Access database engine does not recognize 'Forms!Formname!Combo15 as a valid field name or expression." I tried removing the filter in the first query, but then that would mean using a query without any filters.

    Now, what should I do?

    Okay, I get it. So, now I will begin to create the first query that filters for the records that I need and then if everything works exactly as I want, use the first query as the source for the second, which would be the crosstab query. And then finally use the crosstab to make other adjustments by enhancing the query with the percentage of marks and whatever I need and create a third query that gives the final result. Then use the final query as source for the report. Right? Is this what you mean?
